Indirect Tax Transformation & Technology Director
Our client and their market positioning
Our client is a global professional services firm where Digital Tax is a firm-wide strategic priority. Working closely with the U.S and across their international network, the firm takes an AI-native approach to delivery, is developing its own technology to support client work, and maintains open vendor relationships that allows solutions to be selected and designed according to client requirements.
Projects will be varied and will include significant finance and tax transformation programmes, E-invoicing mandates, tax engine and determination design, and compliance automation.
What we love about the team, the culture and the leadership
The practice is partner-led, with a leadership group experienced across tax process redesign, operating models, technology and data. The Partner group is expanding: with further incoming Partners signed up to join the team over the next 9 months. Headcount will be up to 100 professionals by the end of the first financial year from a standing start.
- Indirect tax transformation and technology is an important capability gap where a strong Director-level hire will thrive. With a strong Partnership case, as a Director you will be given the platform to build and lead this area, supported by live programme work.
- With no legacy technology associations or fixed vendor alignment, the successful candidate will shape the proposition, vendor strategy and delivery model.
- Cross-border delivery with Europe and the US is already in place, providing international scope from the outset.
- The leadership is clear and direct about its requirements: practical implementation capability, developed alongside business development and proposition work.
Why could your skills be a strong alignment and team energy fit?
Ideal professionals will typically be operating as a seasoned Senior Manager or Director level within a Big 4, Top 15 or specialist consulting firm, or may come from industry with substantial, demonstrable implementation experience.
The client places particular weight on evidence of delivery, including:
- E-invoicing country rollouts, including scope, mandate specifics, stakeholder management, testing and go-live outcomes.
- Tax engine selection, configuration and integration (SAP, Oracle or third-party), covering determination logic, error handling and controls.
- ERP tax enablement within SAP ECC to S/4HANA migrations, including tax procedure and condition technique redesign.
- Compliance automation and workflow, including document management, audit trails, exception handling and reporting.
- Contribution to pipeline development, vendor engagement and proposition design alongside delivery.
The role suits individuals who are comfortable operating in an environment that is still being built: working at pace, managing ambiguity, and remaining close to the technical detail while contributing to the commercial development of the practice.
